I’m so happy i wasn’t the only utterly grossed out and disgusted by Lila’s and Fives relationship.

Five didnt even get out of his school boy uniform till season 3 now your throwing him in a relationship with a woman 15 years older than him. This isnt the early 2000’s anymore, and lots of your watchers have already gone through their Pretty little liars faze and realized how disgusting and toxic arias and Ezra's relationship is.

Also still dosent work the other way cause now you’re throwing a 58 year old man at a 35 year old woman. Still 15 years senior, just slightly less disgusting because at least in that case shes not barely legal anymore.

oh no you guys. i’m going to spew things i’ve realized while rewatching umbrella academy. I’m realizing were all being too sucked into fanon things after being stuck without canon content for so long. We have convinced ourselves Five acts like a mean mean dude to everyone but rewatching, i’ve realized he’s only stressed and is saying things out of panicked anger, especially in s1 with the apocalypse dooming over them. he acts soft to his siblings multiple times, he’s really not as mean as we write him in fanfiction. he is a little crap though, that’s for sure, and i love him for that <3

also realizing that the siblings don’t hate five. they just literally don’t know him at all. he came back a completely different person after 17 years for the siblings, they don’t know five, he’s a stranger so of course they’re gonna be cold to him. it’s like, “i don’t know you well, but you’re always going to be my brother in the end”.

ALSO. for those who ship some of the siblings, uhm… i’ve seen a lot of you guys try to prove that they don’t see eachother as siblings and more like academy students, but they very much say in just about every episode that they see eachother as siblings. they don’t actually SAY that word by word but they say things like “she’s our sister”, or “our dad”. if they say OUR dad… bro. i’m not even going to continue, you can put it together yourself. But, i do realize why people ship the siblings. I am not defending incest shippers but with umbrella academy i can see why people have resorted to it. only 3 of the characters in the main sibling cast has romantic partners. people like shipping people, people love writing romantic relationships, but with only diego/lila, dave/klaus, and sissy/viktor, (i’m not going to count five/dolores for now) people are desperate with the need to ship the rest of the siblings with someone, and since there are only a few actual canon characters in the show that interact with our main 7, people start shipping them together… yikes. anywho, that’s all for that peice. i blame the show writers as well for shipping luther/allison, they did not have to do that, but i’m hoping it was only to convey the severity of what childhood trauma does to people.

ALSO THIS HERE SHOOK ME. I actually think Reginald cares for the siblings. i hate to say it, but it’s true. caring for them does not mean being good, though. he was a horrible father, and person, but he genuinely did care for the siblings, in a like, “being the best is the best thing for you, i will make you better, for your sake, even if you don’t know it now, you will see that i am right” kind of way.

also why has NOBODY MENTIONED THIS. in season 2 when diego first reunites with five in the asylum, while he’s walking into the visitors room, he’s staring at five with this heartfelt, soft look, and then says “five…” in the most soft spoken voice ever 😭 your honor i love them

ALSO UGHHH THIS. IM GOING TO FREAK OUT ABOUT CAMERAWORK AND METAPHORS HERE SO BARE WITH ME. we as a fandom complain about the lack of flashbacks five has due to his ptsd. we’ve seen his first flashback since getting back to his family in s1 during the van scene when he gets triggered by those kids playing and starts thinking about his own childhood, i’m guessing. i ate that scene up, and was sad to see that be one of the only deeply vulnerable scenes he has in the season, and during my first watch i thought they’d never bring it back up. but they do!! i may be stupid for not realizing but whatever. in season 2, when five is trying to explain at elliot’s with all his siblings around that another apocalypse is coming, everyone starts talking about each other. as someone who studies film and camerawork, i love this scene. we see the camera focus on five as it slowly zooms in. it doesn’t switch scenes at all as the siblings voices overlap and echo over eachother. this whole scene conveys him getting overwhelmed and he starts to zone out, starting to think of the nuclear war he saw his siblings in. the scenes of the war start quickly switching through, showing many different scenes of it before it switches back to five, who says “guys, you all die. i want to forget it but i can’t” which just UGH its so well done there. if you think about it, he was starting to slip into another flashback. he was triggered by talking about their deaths in the war but was handling it well until the siblings started fighting, where we see the overlapping voices happen. it portrays him losing control and being unable to pull it back together with too much going on for him to focus on grounding himself. we DO however, see that five was able to pull himself out before he fell too deep into the flashback. i love how they show this through them still having the scene showing the war, but then fives voice starts talking over the scene which is still focusing on the war as if he was pushing it back and forcing himself to come back to the present.

In the last scenes of TUA S4, specifically the one where everyone is grabbing onto eachother as they disappear or whatever, I wish the directors had at least the decency to put Five between Klaus and Viktor so he could hold on to the people he cherished (not to say he didn't like the others but the guy definitely had favorites) in his life,,, or maybe even next to Diego?? So he could hold hands with his brother?? That he loves very much?? And not his wife?? (there is no five x Lila in ba sing se.)

Wow I can't believe that in S4 everyone had a happy ending and they are all just chilling in the non apocalypse version of their original timeline and original Ben got brought back to life by Klaus' powers somehow but sparrow Ben is also there and they're besties with eachother and Umbrella ben and Klaus teaches sparrow ben to like not be a dick all the time and also five goes back to the store and gets Delores back and also lila's children are in the same timeline as them and never leave and Viktor still owns his bar but its right near the academy and everyone hangs out there and also Diego and lila are happy married and they all live together at the academy but they like change their rooms so they don't look ugly and fit their current style more and they like refurnished the academy so that it looks more homey and also Klaus never ever ever touches alcohol and Five and lila still are really cocky and always annoyed with eachother and Diego and Five are really good friends and Five buys clothes for Delores all the time and Five and Delores love eachother forever🥰 great season yall

Let's discuss Five and Lila because I need to vent urgently. They had a great relationship s2 and S3 which I found really entertaining and wholesome to watch. Like this twink of a boy and this badass woman running around trying to save the world and not strangle eachother? Cool!

But S4 Lila and Five... Thought it was kinda cute (in a platonic way) when they were investigating the Cleanse together and that they made a cool duo. Silly Diego for accusing Lila for cheating, she would never... Oh. Nevermind. 😃 Her and Five are a thing now.🥰🎀😃

Okay, all jokes aside, it's weird as hell for the two of them together because LILA, HEY, REMEMBER WHEN HE WAS LIKE THIS:

WITH HIS SCRAWNY KNEES AND SCHOOL UNIFORM?? Like yes, he's hot now, but woahh. Not to mention your adopted mum was hitting on him when he was this size too, weird AF.

AND FIVE? DID YOU FORGET THAT YOUR BROTHER LOVES THIS WOMAN?? THE BROTHER THAT YOU TRIED TO SAVE A BILLIOM TIMES FOR THE APOCALYPSE AND DEATH?

It's so bizarre that the writers thought 'yes, five needs a love interest so we'll use a character already ready as his love interest' completely disregarding the age gap (physically and mentally) and the fact that Lila and Diego are a thing.

And if I'm being completely honest... Lila and Five were cute together, all cottagecore and loveydovey. But it's weird as hell considering Lila knew Five was physically a minor and the fact he's mentally like 70 years old now. So I kinda get if you shipped them this season but the people who were shipping them in s2 and S3? Creepy AF, that's disgusting.

Honestly I don't like most of Tua canon ships (apart from Klaus and Dave, Allison and Ray and Sparrow Ben and Jennifer) all the other ones like Diego and Lila, Sloane and Luther, even Victor and Sisi jusy doesn't rock my boat, but Five and Lila is rockbottom.

Why did I have the impression that all the characters in TUA 1, 2 and 3 are not the same that in the season 4?

Even my favorite characters (Klaus, Five, Diego or Viktor) are just tasteless like they all are caricatures of what they are!

Where is the romantic Luther? He was always so passionate in what he do and with who he love?

Where is the empathic Alisson? In the S3 she was heartbroken but she was here and now she didn't even care about Klaus who is alone with his traumatic power? And why it's Alisson the shinning horseman? That was the job of Diego to be the savor or five, you cannot play the "I do everything for all tvis years" when we just see thay you care in S4

What the freak is happening with Five?! Why he accepter Lila with him?! They didn't care about eachothers last season!

I love Klaus, he's my baby, but he's still the same from S1 to S4! They trier ti give him sobriety and more trauma but in 6 episode and 3/4 other pov, we didn't have time so he didn't evoluate! And why did he always in the side quests? HE LITTERALY HAVE AN IMPACT ON LIFE AND DEATH!!!

Diego and Lila drama, UUUUUGH!!!!! Diego was always a person who talk to people and be understanding of the family problem! He didn't even hesitate to defend Klauss in S1 even if he didn't now what's happen! And now he's gngngnfn in his corner like a old grandpa

I didn't have a lot to say on Viktor because he need to express all the pain, the angry he has incident of him, but to the good person! This Reggie didn't care tant you were encaged because he didn't do it, Viktor need a confrontation with the original Reggie! To express the sadness (And I find him to much impulsive and mean, it was not teh Viktor of S3 who was happy with his gamily and being here for the person he love

Didn't have a lot to say to Ben and Jennifer because the first stay like the s3 one but with a lil bit of love (we need more scène with Klaus fgs) ans Jennifer make soooo much more question and I ma not very sûre that she was useful at the End...

Now I need to finish this season and I ho on A03 because I miss Dave A LOT!

I just can't with the five and Lila storyline. I'm a 5 defender until my cruel and bitter death, but he just felt so out of character this season. He didn't catch on that the CIA were bad and the guy who's entire personality is that he'll do anything to save his siblings because they're the most important things to him in the world and he loves him more than he loves himself suddenly becomes a home wrecker by being with his brothers wife. I always saw five as a gay asexual or aroace man . I feel like they could've pulled it off by making it very clear the characters don't actually love eachother that five is Lisa's replacement for diego and Lila is five's Delores, an anchor in the apocalypse to stop him from Losing his mind and they go back home as soon as they realize they can. But even then I wouldn't have liked it .he wouldn't have fought diego about lila either. He's so incredibly out of character it feels like an alien is using him as a skin suit and puppeting his carcass across screen. Additionally 5 should've said something when they were all dying, his siblings ceased to exist in all instances of reality and they never got to hear that five loved them, how deeply he all loved them. That it was never so much about saving the world as it was about saving them. If you need me I'll be reading fix it fics on ao3.

Five and lila was… unexpected

[!TUA SEASON 4 SPOILERS!]

I wanna start with the fact that I do not agree with the people saying “this butchered fives character!” nor do I agree with the people saying “Oml this ship is so perfect!”

truly, I think five and Lila make sense. But not quite in the couple way?

I mean, I adored watching the two of them play chess or help with personal hygiene or cook/eat together. But with the context of sexual and romantic tension, kinda ruined it for me.

because, well, it just felt rushed and weird. We see very few scenes of the two intersecting in this way, and when we do it’s in brief flashes and later on during some weird pout of fives on the subway! So to say I felt like I had whiplash from their relationship is an understatement.

the whole cheating thing is a whole other level, because personally anyone who is a cheater is disgusting and immediately someone I hate/dislike (of course there are some, very very few, instances where I can forgive or at least understand the cheating). And that is no different for five or Lila, because I think both are horrible for

1. Lila cheating on Diego with his BROTHER (adopted but still!) no less! And I get it was 7 years BUT she still wanted to get home, she still had hope, doesn’t that extend to her husband? I know they were fighting and Lila wanted to take a break, but unlike with Rachel and Ross who were dating, A BREAK IN A MARRIAGE IS NOT AN IMMEDIATE DIVORCE! So please, stop saying it was all perfect! Cause it was not. Diego and Lila would have probably broken up despite the fact that I and many others wish they wouldn’t (both are too stubborn for couples therapy, probably), but only after that would it have been better for her to start pursuing five in that way, and vice versa.

2. Five abandoning all regard he may have for Diego. Like I get it, it’s 7 years, and Diego may not be your favourite person or even someone you’d be okay with spending extended amounts of time with, but he’s still your brother (adopted or not!). And by gosh, doesn’t that count for anything?! I get it, you and the one lady who understood how your situation works we’re stick for 7 years with only eachother, but dude, she’s MARRIED to your BROTHER with 3 KIDS! (At least I think there’s three, I really only know the name of one of them………) Cmon…

truly, this season could have benefitted from this, I think five and Lila are cute. But idk, maybe give us some more time with them? (I understand they had less episodes, but we also got like 20 minutes worth of Klaus just flicking a lighter in a grave! Love y’a Klaus, sorry!) Or just, hmmm, I’m not sure, make it platonic? Or maybe make the two kiss and then have that epiphany of “oh wait! I still have a husband!” And “my brother is your husband!”. And then have them be all weird about it, let the fanfic writes squeal and add on to it or whatever they want, and not traumatize the other majority of fans who fully do not and cannot support the ONE ship that is pedophilic both ways!

I’ve got so much more to say on this, but I’m tired and I truly could care less.

all in all; if you don’t like the ship, don’t interact with content about it. If you like the ship, don’t interact with content bashing it. It is a VERY controversial ship, and while I say “whatever floats your boat”, that does not mean shove your opinion in other peoples faces.

everyone needs to grow up, and everyone needs to understand that this is what we got, and this is what we’ll continue to get. Do or don’t read the fanfics (there are so many) that endorse and give SO much more attention to these two (five x Lila), and leave it be!

sorry about all this! I’m just so tired of seeing this sh*t everywhere, there are so many more pressing matters in this seasons writing, timing, spacing, and overall execution! Cmon guys, leave the ship thing alone and focus on how they just said “your trauma and everything you’ve endured to get to where you are means nothing. You have to die for the world to be a good place. You are the thing that is wrong. The world never has and never will need you.” cause WHAT THE HECK

First of all I did enjoy the idea that Reggie killed the first Ben and reprogramed everyone's memories about what happened. I think the whole thing between Jennifer and the Horrors and Ben could've worked somehow, but it was just weird straight bullshit?

Like, don't mind me, I like the whole Ben loosing his mind thing, but they could've done it in a whole new way.

FOR EXAMPLE

We have people remembering their other lives. WHY ON EARTH THEY DIDN'T USE THIS IN BEN? Watching him slowly loosing his mind while they search for Jennifer and he has this feeling like he shouldn't find her, like this is a bad idea. Him dealing with his families death while remembering slowly about how he loved this new family before. ANYTHING about his and Klaus' relationship???

And like, the whole thing about Reggie protecting her instead of killing her is so fucking out of character of him. Reggie killed his own kid, his own killing machine, with no second thoughts. Whats the point of letting Jennifer walk around?

ALSO if this Reggie is not the same Reggie that raised them, how did Abigail know shit about those kids? HOW???

I think the one amazing moment in the show was Viktor yelling at Reggie. That was so good, so cathartic and, gosh, Elliot did it so well.

Klaus and Allison fighting? gold. Klaus not seeing a single ghost and acting like an addict without consuming no drug was just??? Why would he go look for a guy he owned money? Why did he want the man to shoot him if he knew he wouldn't die? It was just so???? no????

DID WE FORGET THE WHOLE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT HE HAD LAST SEASON? LIKE? WHERE HE WAS ABLE TO SHOO AWAY THE GHOSTS???

Did the writters see how people were painting Lila as abusive towards Diego and decided to make Diego a bad partner??? Tho he was a bad partner to that cop lady too.

Luther being over Sloane after 5 years would be ok if we didn't know about his eternal longing towards Allison since they were kids to some point in the middle of season 2.

but like, the main thing that I disliked was how they made them act alone most of the season.

Whats the point of Ben loosing his mind if theres no one to worry about him? Who cares about Klaus using his powers to make money if he does it by himself? Why let Viktor bond with Reggie if no one is gonna call him a traitor?

The fact the world was ending and they were all there eating popcorn to see the whole shit between Lila and Five and Diego was funny as fuck. And I do admit that I loved that ship and how it happened, but I wanted to see conection between the siblings.

I wanted them to bond and love eachother before dying.

Not just meet, fight, not see eachother for a while, meet again and die.

I was scared the last season wouldn't meet my expectations, but I guess they wanted to compete with season 2 for the most nonsense season.

the group sacrifice would've been 100% better if they died with the kugelblitz after the wedding.

- so like we all agree that thing with five and Lila was wack right ??? Like the dude that has been fighting apocalypse after apocalypse with his only motivation being his family, s-c-r-e-w-s his sister in law ? Ik him and diego don't have the strongest bond but you really want me to believe he would not only screw Lila but hurt diego like that? You also want be to believe Lila, who flocked to a whole other point in time to deal with her feelings for diego (among other things) Would cheat on him ? She rebelled against the women she knew as her mother for him ? Wack

-maybe I'm just a lil slow but it literally didn't make sense foe Lila to take her family to the subway to "save" them. If the cleanse would destroy every other timeline then the subway and every other timeline within it would have been straight up obliterated; it would have made sense if she did that so they would have to see the umbrellas die ? But in that same thought wouldn't it have been more meaningful for the whole family to die in this timline together and then the family that is SUPPOSED to exist will ?

- listen I like the touch that the siblings exist in some capacity in the new timeline but no marigold supposed to exists in this time at all so like? Huh?

-they did my Boy ben so dirty like a million times. I like that they explain his death and I think the way he died is entirely plausible cause Reggie SUCKS; and I can get behind the concept of the cleanse and the only one timelin thing but the way it was executed was not good in my opinion; someone said on here (I don't know who I'm sorry I rarely look at usernames! But if you know lemme know!) That it would have made more sense if the only one timeline to exist was one in which the umbrellas are born natrually and live the lives that they would have if Hargreaves never interveened. They also said the umbrellas would have some kind of deja vu or tether to eachother which I think is a nice, wholesome touch :)

- I was kinda expecting them to do more with the being born thing. I was also expecting them to mention that five and Luther are twins (revealled in the comics; I belive in hotel oblivion)

- I don't know, I feel like a lot of the side storylines five with the CIA, five with Lila, diego realizing he wants to be in a loving household and be a loving husband again only for that to be completely thrown in the trash by whatever happened in the subway :p, Luther living in the old, condemned umbrella academy (?),

-I feel like with past seasons they really focused on the fact that Luther never left and all he knew was being number one so I feel like after everything with the sparrows and Sloan he would have not gone back to try and fix it

Allison with her film career, I thought that would be more meaningful than it was and also the fact that Ray left her and just doesn't explain why or even why he doesn't even see Claire? (The actor that plays him probably didn't have time but like any amount of explanation would have been good)

-the fuckin subway was practically useless ? I thought the entire umbrella academy was gonna be stuck travelling the timelines but it was introduced and it ended that that was that. (Really upset that we didn't get a fun timeline montage but whatever)

-my OG theory was that they would be trapped jumping through different timelines trying to get to the original one and fix it that way and lowkey I wish that was the story we got

-despite ben and Jennifer and the cleanse being the main storyline I really don't remember most of it. It wasn't impactful and it didn't feel like a real threat even when it was literally absorbing everyone.

-were Gene and Jean really necessary beyond being the "antagonists" and just a way to make it harder to get to ben ?

-[edit 1] I need to know the biological properties of marigold. Bc for things to work out the way they're supposed to (umbrellas not existing) marigold has to be able to create a new egg, and be able to fertalize itself. But that would lead me to think the umbrellas would be born aliens, but we know they're not because we've seen them bleed red. So in my mind it makes more sense for marigold to only be able to fetalize eggs already in the uterus and fast tracking the pregnancy, meaning that in some capacity the umbrellas would still have the ability to exist because they already exist inside the uturus ? Maybe I'm reading too much into that one

-I have to know what happened to Leonard Peabody in the meant to be timeline I don't know why I'm just really curious about him since he kinda set apocalypse 1 into motion

I think the actors and the crew did really great work playing their characters and bringing the work to life but I genuinely believe the narrative and characters/development was throughly messed up by poor and lazy writing which is unfortunate because I really had high hopes and there was a point where this show was really fantastic and really good at being intriguing.

I hope in a few years they do a remake and do seasons 3 & 4 justice 🙏

five is a CIA agent. it is so cool. ben tricked them. im glad they got their Powers back but they didnt want their Powers most of them at least. theyll be so mad at him. tom holland!

im scared. i cant believe five didnt see what ben did. theyre so funny. I avoided spoilers, I have no idea what will happen next. why did she trust ben. they are all amazing. What does Jean and Gene want with jennifer? they almost killed them.

ep 3

im glad klaus is alive. it was a tragic accident… :') i like abigail. I hope she is what she seems. in previous seasons i didnt like the team except five. i mean i loved them at first but the decisions they made make me not liking them. but now it has been a long time i even forgot most of it. i really miss seeing them. this is the last season and i am starting to love them again. i hope they all get a happy ending.

reginald killed ben!!!!!! ben and jennifer It scares me what they can do and I haven't seen any spoilers yet and the uncertainty scares me even more. five and lila working together i love them. well World is ending, again. but its probably okay because five will save the World.

six years five months two days. they spent so much time there. not five and lila please. Diego and lila was good. five wouldnt do that to Diego. abigail!

I thought there would be 8 episodes. How will they end everything now? They won't have happy endings, right? this season didnt make sense. five and lila spent so much time together but I wish they hadn't told the family. What did the writers do this season? this can't be happening. everything is going bad right now. The love trilogy was so unnecessary, I wish they hadn't done such a thing. At least they would be on good terms with each other. everyone is trying to save the World Diego and five is just fighting with eachother. five left his family. old five wouldnt do that. he would do anything to save his family just like he did in the other seasons. what did she make right? abigail ended the World. and thats why i loved five the first time. his family ended the World and he didi everything in his power to save it. but he never succeeded. but he tried. again and again. and now they want me to believe five would upset his brother. he wouldnt do that. he would focus on saving the World and his family again. i dont know if the end makes sense it kinda does but couldn't there be another way? i thought they would have a happy ending or something like that. Could they have lived if Ben hadn't given them marigold? or are they the problem not the marigold. this wasnt a happy ending, it was the opposite. Everyone lived except the people I cared about. I wanted the Umbrella Academy to get the ending they deserved but instead they are dead. why? Couldn't there really be another ending?

some stories just dont have happy endings, right? and this was one of them at least for me, yeah the World is okay. They put up a video where everyone is happy, but it's not a happy ending for me. i dont like this. I wish they had done something much different.

This story ended for better or worse. Sometimes I laughed and sometimes I cried. I'm happy to witness their adventures no matter what. and lastly, I'll probably watch the first 3 seasons again(because i need to, i need to see five and the others the way they used to be), but I'm not sure if I'll watch fourth season.

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4 OF TUA!!!

not sure if you wanted a full scene spoiler but I’ll give you a small as little spoiler possible version and under the “read more” I’ll explain the actual scene in more detail <3 BUT BEWARE READING BELOW THIS FOR SPOILERS BECAUSE I CANT EXPLAIN WITHOUT SPOILING A LOT ANYWAY

So they had Lila and Five kiss because they were put into a situation where they couldn’t get out for a long period of time (a long term situation, not like stuck in a box for 2 minutes lol), so they got lonely and desperate and only had eachother and apparently they fell in love? And kissed? Idk still I’m coping hard as in blocking it out LOLL

I’m the scene, fives powers are strangely teleporting him to a subway where the subway moves through different timelines, but it’s VERY complicated. Five and Lila go on a mission through this subway to go to their original season 1 timeline and save Ben from dying, but they end up in a strange alternate timeline with a mix of sparrows and umbrellas in one academy called the “Pheonix academy” and they realize whoops wrong place so they leave and then boom. They try to return to the season 4 set timeline but the subway keeps taking them to different places but never their own original season 4 timeline. They keep going through the train trying to find their home for 7 years. It’s the one episode called “six year, five months, and two days” because that’s how long they were stuck there. They get so desperate and so alone there in this continuous journey of nothing only to start leaning onto eachother and then I think towards the end of their journey Five falls in love? Maybe? I think they both did but I know they kissed and they looked at each other funny (romantical looks probably ew) but they find a way out of the subway back to their original place and it butchers relationships because omg Lila is home to Diego and her family now, what about Five? So that’s basically what happens

SORRY I WROTE SO MUCH. I didn’t quite know how much you wanted or if you just wanted me to say “they smooched during a traumatic experience” (this actually sums it up very good) but here you go!!

Personally, and they kinda bring it up, but I think their “romance” was coping. They had no one and we’re the only people and we’re trapped in a traumatic situation unknowing whether they’d ever find their home and families again so of course they got close to eachother.

Personally I think they should’ve kept this ENTIRE thing out. Other can disagree!!! But I just don’t like Lila/Five romance, I think it’s so unneeded and unnecessary and we need more male and female friendships that don’t end up kissing each other 😭

I just finished season 4 I’m not kidding I’m actually sobbing right now. I took a video of my reaction and half way through I started crying and laughing at my self when I saw my face in the camera and then crying again
